The festive period is always a bit manic and rushed, and although it is only a matter of days until Christmas, do not fear!
I've put together lots of Christmassy ideas (decorations, beauty ideas, food ideas/ clothing..) to get you feeling festive and prepared for next week.

Tis the season to be jolly.... !!

I've eaten my 8th Advent chocolate from my Malteasers Advent calendar, the Christmas tree is up, "Top 10 Christmas Turkeys" is on MTV Classic, and I am sitting in my room surrounded by Christmas presents that need to be wrapped - could this be a more perfect time to write a festive-filled Christmassy blog post?!

In case you haven't guessed... I'm a Christmas freak. Yes. Freak. I know that's quite a strong word, but I definitely am one!!! I blame it on my parents. When I was growing up and right up until I stopped believing in Santa (I think I was around 7), my parents really did make Christmas "the most wonderful time of the year". My dad always used to travel a lot with work, so for him not to be there on Christmas Eve was no biggy. Turns out that he wasn't actually travelling on Christmas Eve, it was HIM who would dress up as Santa and come deliver presents to us!! It was the most incredible thing EVER.

Every Christmas Eve it would be our family (the WHOLE family... aunties, uncles, grandparents... the lot) and my best friend Natalie and her family (she's my oldest friend who I've known since I can remember!). I'm just gonna pause for a sec and tell you that some random "Macarena" Christmas mix has just come on MTV Classic... what the hell!?!?!? Anyway.... Natalie and I would always go and wait by the front door after being told by our mums that they just had a call from Santa who had said that he was near the house, and for us to go and wait to let him in... so we did! We would wait there for a few minutes when we would hear the doorbell go... and there he was.... Santa Claus!! He would give Natalie and I a big hug and give a big "Ho Ho Ho!!". We then followed him into the conservatory, where our Christmas Tree was/is every year, and he would empty out his sack full of presents for all of us. He would stay for about 15 minutes, this was totally understandable at the time, after all, he did have to get ALL THE WAY AROUND THE WORLD! Anyway, my dad did an amazing job at being Santa, and it wasn't until my brother decided he would take over one year and do the job - but that failed... and I recognised it was him. So if your reading this, thanks Kareem for ruining it. Hahaha. Anyway, the point I am making from this little Santa Claus story, is that if my parents hadn't of made such an amazing effort to make Christmas so special for me throughout my childhood, I probably wouldn't be this Christmas-obsessed nutter today! My friend Natalie who experienced this with me is the ONLY other person I know who loves Christmas JUST as much as me.

Here are some of the things that I love most about Christmas:

Spending lots of time with my family (both my brothers have moved out and my dad works A LOT, so it's not often that all 5 of us get to spend lots of time together, so I really appreciate it when we do!). Decorating the Christmas tree, and just Christmassy decorations in general - I love helping my mum make the house look nice and Festive! Presents!! Not just receiving presents (of course I do love this, not going to beat around the bush!), but also buying presents... I always try to make a huge effort to get my family, friends, and boyfriend, things that they will really love, so I definitely enjoy buying these gifts. Christmas dinner ... my mum makes THE BEST Christmas dinner, EVER. A big Turkey, crispy roast totties, stuffing, pigs in blankets....... mmmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it! London - I LOVE London at Christmas... all of the beautiful lights, particularly on Oxford Street, but London in general looks amazing throughout the festive season. Hot Chocolates from Starbucks (in their cute little Christmassy cups). Christmas songs! When it gets to around October I am already getting excited about listening to Christmas songs, but I always make myself wait until at least the end of November before I bust them out! Tra la la la la............. :)Snow...(when we actually get it!) Hmmm what else do I love.... oh yes, Mince Pies and general Christmas treats e.g LOTS OF CHOCOLATE. Drinking lots of red wine.... ahh there is just so much I love about the festive season I could go on forever!! But I won't..

I'm going to Winter Wonderland this week for the first time ever... I've never been before which is mad considering my extreme love for the festive period! I'll write another post after I have been with lots of pictures and will tell you what it's like...

So for now... enjoy my Christmassy pictures, and Merry Christmas!! 17 days to go!! :-)

Party Eyes!

Here are all of the products that you need to create the best party eyes!! By party eyes I mean big, bold, and smokey.... enjoy!
I always start by putting my foundation on all over my face and I leave it to dry for about 5 minutes before starting my eyes. I find that having foundation on the eye lids acts as a great base for when you apply eye shadow.

1. I start by applying "Boiing" by Benefit. I apply a tiny little smudge under each eye to get rid of any sleepy bags that might be lingering under there! This is also great to use as a concealer for any other areas on the face.

2. Next, I use an eye shadow brush and apply the base colour, taking the brush all the way from one side of the eye lid to another, so that it covers the entire eye lid. I use either the greeny shimmery colour on the top left hand side of the palette, or the more natural beigey matte colour on the bottom right of the palette. I use the green when I'm wearing something quite plain and simple so that the colour stands out a bit more, but if you are wearing something colourful then I would go for the more natural colours. All of these eye shadows are from MAC - sorry about the mucky palette! MAC are really good when it comes to variety, and there are LOADS of different colours for you to choose from, so if your not keen on the ones below then don't worry.. there are many more for you to purchase!

3. Once my base colour is applied, I apply gel eye liner, also from MAC (I use the colour Blacktrack). You can buy little brushes that are used especially for gel eye liner from pretty much every make-up store and also from places such as Boots or Superdrug. I would recommend buying one from somewhere like MAC or Bobbi Brown though, just because they are really great quality and last forever!

You only need to put a small amount on the tip of the brush, and carefully apply a thin (can be as thin or thick as you wish) line from the corner of your eye right across to the other side. If you follow the part of your eye lid just where your eyelashes start you should get the perfect line (if you're a bit confused just YouTube a tutorial on how to apply gel eye liner). I always extend the line so it "flicks" out at the end - this is a great way to make your eyes look a little bigger than they are already.

I always choose to use gel eye liner over a liquid one, because I find it a lot easier to put on and you can create a smokier effect... I also find that liquid eye liner can sometimes be quite shiny, where as gel is normally matte.

4. Once the gel eye liner is applied, I then apply a dark brown (you can go for black/dark grey if you would prefer) eye shadow. For this I use the dark brown shadow that comes in Benefit's "Big Beautiful Eyes... an eye contour kit" palette (on the far right of the photo). I only apply this on the edge of each eye. If you go up to the top of this post where the four photos of my eyes are, look at the one second from the bottom - you can see just a small amount of darker colour on the far side of the eye lid, just above where the eye liner flicks out. I also apply a very thin line of the darker shadow across the top of the eye lid (you can also see this in the same picture). This just adds to the smokey and bold effect.

By this point you might have a bit of eye shadow flying around under your eye! If you do, just take a face wipe or wet a cotton bud and wipe it away, and if you think it is necessary just apply a bit of foundation over the top of where you have just rubbed off.

5. Now it's time for mascara! I use two different mascara's with one another when I go out. I NEVER wear fake eyelashes because of the simple fact that they annoy me and always bother me, and also with the mascara's that I use I don't need to even consider fake lashes because they're incredibly good! So, the first mascara I apply is "Haute and Naughty Lash" by MAC:

As you can see from the image above, there are two compartments to this mascara, in other words... there are two brushes in one mascara tube! I always use the bottom compartment (the one in the purple pretty glittery tube), it's a bit thicker and you can get a lot of volume from it. I use the pink compartment for day time as its a little finer. Once I have applied a sufficient amount (I wear quite a lot... maybe more than others... but I'm not afraid to say it!) I then apply "They're real..." by Benefit:

I only apply a very small amount, but that's all you need when you put it on top of the MAC mascara. The way that the brush is shaped (as you can see in the image above) really gets every single lash and tidies everything up, and the bit at the top is designed so that you can turn the brush vertically and get those stubborn lashes at the corners of your eyes that are always a pain to get.

6. Last but not least, I fill in the inner bottom part of the eye with MAC Eye Kohl pencil eye liner. This just gives your eye that finishing touch! As with everything MAC, there is a huge variety of different colours you can choose from but I go for the standard black.

Arabian Nights

Last week I went to Dubai with my oldest friend, and both of our mums. We had an amazing time with lots of laughs, and when we got back there were lots of stories to tell! I've been to Dubai a couple of times before, but before I went, I had lots of people asking me what it's like over there. If I could describe Dubai in one word it would be "Paradise", but I've decided to write a post about it so that you can all make your own decision...without having to go there (although I definitely recommend that you all go!).

As soon as we arrived at the airport we were greeted by a driver who had been sent by Jumeirah cars (Jumeriah is the name of the resort which is most popular for holiday go-ers). As we got in we were offered a cold towl and a bottle of water (ooooooh!). It was about 10.30pm when we arrived, so we headed to our hotel - Mina A Salam.

We were welcomed into the room with this little creature on the bed!
The most amazing shower..EVER.
We woke up early on our first day and headed down to the breakfast buffet. It was delicious, their selection beat every other that I have experienced, from cereal to pancakes to waffles to eggs to fruit.. you name it, they had it! We spent the day by the beach (as we did every day) and made the most of the incredible surroundings...

The world-famous Burj Al Arab hotel which has been built in the middle of the ocean. Amazing.

The sea was as warm as a bath - I would have preferred it to be a little cooler considering the temperature which was about 40 degrees... saying that, I certainly was NOT complaining!

Our hotel provided a water-taxi service which took us to the "Madinat" complex right next to the hotel...

At the complex there was a huge variety of restaurants, shops and a souk (a souk is the name for the famous Arabic markets). On our first night we had dinner at the Meat.Co which was delicious. I had calamari to start and then an Angus Beef Fillet Steak for main. I highly recommend the restaurant if you get the chance to go!

Amongst the amazing restaurants, we wined and dined at two amazing Lebanese restaurants. Lebanese cuisine is my favourite. The fact that I am half Lebanese could have you thinking I am slightly biased...but if you have tried it you will share the love for it! If you haven't... hurry up and have a taste, you are SERIOUSLY missing out! Of course we enjoyed a Shisha afterwards, it would have been rude not to!

The hotel had its own spa, and we certainly took full advantage of it! Myself and my friend both had a "Balinese" massage. Just thinking about it is making me feel as relaxed as I did during the massage! It was incredible... a full body massage with lots of oils, what more could you ask for! After the massage we were able to make the most of the spa facilities, including a sauna, steam room, plunge pools and outdoor swimming pool.

The plunge pools... it took us about an hour to get into each of them due to the extreme temperatures!!

One evening we had dinner on the 27th floor of the the Burj Al Arab hotel next door...
Look at the picture above. You see that funny thing poking out at the top left? That's the restaurant we ate in. Oh, and incase I didn't mention it... the other funny round shaped thing poking out on the right is just a helicopter pad. Casual. Dubai certainly likes to take things to extremes, and don't we love it!

We had a drink and some canapes in the SkyView Bar which was right next to the restaurant, and then enjoyed a luxurious three course meal which was simply delicious!

This huge aquarium follows the hotel escalators all the way up from the lobby to the 1st floor. Mesmerizing !
Anyway I'm not going to say or show you anymore, because I believe that every one of you reading this should visit Dubai at some point in your life. There is so much more to it to what I have shown you, and if you are impressed with what you see, you would be a fool to miss out on an amazing opportunity!

Happy holidays :)
